Course Description:
Strangulation is a key lethality indicator in intimate partner violence. Both survivors and service providers tend to miss or minimize the seriousness of this act. In this training, you will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of strangulation, how to discuss strangulation with your clients, and how to facilitate appropriate medical care. Presenters will explore and discuss the role of family, friends, and service providers in changing the community response to strangulation. Then, safety planning and resources for your clients experiencing strangulation will be explored in a practical and thoughtful manner.
