Course Description:
Facilitating discussions around death and dying can often cause anxiety and discomfort, even for social workers who are trained to navigate complex conversations. The business of death can include planning documents, funerals, rituals, and autopsies and carries with it social justice and ethical implications. In addition, you may be faced with ethical challenges when working with families around end of life/death care. In this workshop, you will explore issues that make end of life planning difficult in an effort to increase your comfort level in conversations with clients and family, become better advocates, and understand how the grief trajectory may be influenced by events that do or do not happen at the time of death.
