Course Description:
Developing an ethical base, one that incorporates the social work code of ethics, is key to proper casework and management and decision-making strategies. This class shows you how to properly address diverse legal situations. We will cover involuntary treatment and treatment rights, guardianship, informed consent, subpoenas, balancing legal and ethical issues as a petitioner, court testimony tactics and relationships with the probate court. We'll also review end-of-life/advanced directives. Case examples and scenarios will assist you in gaining a sharper view of your role in these areas of responsibility.
