Course Description:

To diagnose or not diagnose: should that be the question? This interactive course prompts participants to dissect the DSM-5 by considering historic and present-day socio-cultural impacts of its use in the assessment and diagnosis of adult clients. Participants will explore two relevant models of sexual health experiencing and practice applying assessment models to case examples of common sexual challenges. Participants will leave the course with a sturdy understanding of the Manual and how to center client well-being when assessing and diagnosing sexual health concerns in the field of clinical social work.

This presentation provides clinicians with insight on foundational assessment techniques utilized in the treatment of sexual health concerns. As sexual health is a severely underrepresented field of study in clinical social work, this course aims to fill in knowledge gaps for all clinical social workers to be more prepared to treat issues vital to the human experience.
