The Secure Therapist: Culturally-Informed Attachment Work with Adults

  • Eastern Michigan Boone Hall Room G 12A Ypsilanti, MI 48197 United States (map)

Course Description:

Centered in adult clinical client relationships, social workers will explore the intermediate practices of attachment-informed relational work through lecture, conceptualization, and experiential activity. Participants will review the behaviors of secure attachment, exploring attunement practices through observation and solo reflection. The course will explore multicultural considerations to engagement and responsiveness so that clinicians feel confident in their relational approach to their client’s treatment.

This presentation provides clinicians with insight and applicable interventions on working with adult clients in the clinical sphere using an attachment-informed practice. Clinical social workers need empowerment and knowledge on developing and sustaining client-centered therapeutic relationships, which is widely known as the main predictor of successful healing.
