Surviving and Thriving: Reflecting on The Challenge and Preparing for Our Future

Course Description:

Social workers have played a critical role in providing intervention, emotional support, and therapeutic services for children, families, teachers, and first responders since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, social workers navigate aspects of race, equity, and inclusion every day as they engage with diverse populations and address a myriad of needs that result from systemic racism, oppression, and inequity. This workshop will offer an opportunity to reflect on all that we have experienced related to the pandemic, police violence, and systemic injustice; as well as time to think about how we position ourselves to move forward. It is important that social workers think deeply about these issues in order to provide diversity-informed, person-centered, and antiracist services, policies, and advocacy for individuals, children, families, and communities.
