Course Description:
This 8-part training series, developed by a multidisciplinary team of child welfare experts, will provide an offender-based approach to handling child sexual abuse investigations. Attendees will learn about trauma in child sexual abuse cases, how to develop a safety plan, investigation and interview techniques, how to read or interpret medical forensic examinations, the impact of compassion fatigue, and tips for building and supporting resiliency in children and child welfare professionals. Speakers will discuss best practices, share practical recommendations, and explore models of excellence to encourage better interagency collaboration. Participants are encouraged to attend all webinars within the series as the training is organized to build upon each step of a child sexual abuse investigation.
