Course Description:
Psychedelics, including the plant medicines, Ayahuasca and Psilocybin have been experiencing a renaissance in the media as burgeoning research indicate the efficacy of these substances with treatment resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Along with the increasing popularity of psychedelics is ancient energy healing practices to treat emotional, psychological, and physical pain. Integrative Social Work (ISW), a developing area of practice includes research on psychedelics as a treatment modality, the influence of Wi-Fi and EMFs on human consciousness, and Eastern cultural healing practices. Healing practices including emotional freedom techniques (tapping), acupressure, acupuncture, sound bathing, and others provide a foundation for ISW practices. Integrative Social Work is quickly expanding to include research on psychedelics, as some cities and states have decriminalized the use of psychedelics, including Ann Arbor, MI.
