Healthy Safety Net 2024: Strong Foundations to Bold Action

  • Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center 219 South Harrison Road East Lansing, MI, 48824 United States (map)

Course Description:

Safety net health care providers in Michigan continue to deal with an ever-changing health care policy and delivery environment. Since the Affordable Care Act became law in 2011, more than 50 percent of Michigan's uninsured gained coverage, but 13 years later, health care issues, policies, coverage, and care continue to evolve under the ever-changing political and health care delivery environment. Safety net health care providers are seeing significant changes in issues such as Medicaid policies, behavioral health, the workforce to deliver health care, health care access and quality, social determinants of health and equity.

Learners will leave the Healthy Safety Net 2024 program with a better understanding of how innovations in crisis response and behavioral health care programs are changing lives, how they can more effectively meet the needs of patients with disabilities and what equity innovations and resources are developing in rural health care. They will be able to develop innovative strategies, programs, and partnerships responsive to these changing environments.
