Course Description:
The 6th Annual Noojimo’iwewin: The VAWA and ICWA Training is a multi-disciplinary training for advocates to implement effective service and advocacy strategies in cases involving child welfare, domestic violence, or both. Bringing advocates and experts together, this training enhances community-based, individualized services across Indian Country. Attendees of the training will learn from the modern, cultural, and traditional restorative justice system of the Bay Mills Indian Community. Social workers, attorneys, advocates, judges, law enforcement officers and whomever else may benefit from this training are encouraged to register. This training is absolutely free of charge and only requires a device with an internet connection that can support Zoom. Local attendees are invited to participate fully or partially in-person. All materials will be online.
Each session is tailored to address topics concerning healing from violence, offering essential tools to empower and support community recovery. Facilitators will guide participants through each unit, ensuring advocates, providers, and legal professionals are equipped with the necessary skills to implement impactful service strategies.
Each interactive, in-depth unit includes:
