Course Description:
The overuse of substances impacts all people across gender, age and socioeconomic status. Over 100,000 Americans suffered a substance use overdose in the last year and any professional able to refer or support someone in crisis with substance use can have an impact. In order to connect people in need with treatment to improve function and quality of life, a better understanding of substance use disorder, intoxication and withdrawal is crucial. This training will focus on understanding substance use warning signs, symptoms and community resources that can support struggling families in Southwest Michigan and implementing support without stigma.
