Course Description:
MHAM and Newport Behavioral Health are joining forces to provide attendees with cutting edge and tangible information around mental health and substance use disorders. Three sessions will be provided.
Our day will kick off with Samantha Quigneaux, LMFT who is the National Director of Family Therapy Services for Newport Healthcare. Here session is an Introduction to Attached Based Family Therapy (ABFT). Coming all the way from Connecticut, this presentation will review the theory and clinical strategies of Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT). The model is organized by five treatment tasks that provide an organized yet flexible road map to facilitate the repairing of interpersonal ruptures that have damaged interpersonal trust. This presentation will encourage participants to both consider and conceptualization family dynamics in the treatment process.
The second sesssion is with Marianne Huff, LMSW, President and CEO of Mental Health Association in Michigan and will discuss in detail how to navigate the community mental health system. As a former Michigan CMH Director, she will walk through in-depth steps to access the system. Attendees can ask questions and receive real answers on how to best help clients and family members.
After lunch, you will hear from Jessie Elliott from Mind Reset, the Ketamine Clinic who will help attendees understand ketamine’s mechanism of action, recognize benefits, identify appropriate candidates, discuss administrative protocol, evaluate evidence, consider ethical implications, plan for integration, and promote informed consent.
Lunch will be served. This day will also include vendors with community resources.
