Course Description:
Child abuse and neglect affects 1 in 7 children and has long lasting social, emotional, cognitive, and biological effects. In this session we will look at the effects upon children’s ability to self-regulate. Healthy self-regulation is linked to several life outcomes including biology and health, relationships throughout life, cognitive function, and behavior. We will examine the problem, the development of, and some of the tools we can use to support the development of healthy self-regulation in this population.
