Course Description:
This course is designed to educate professional service providers who provide care to people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or another dementia and/or their family members and care partners. The curriculum will discuss adverse effects of caregiver stress on physical and mental health and methods to preserve and enhance well-being. Learn to recognize the signs of stress, reduce and manage stress when it appears, and prevent stressful circumstances from negatively impacting care provision. Recommendation: take CES 4303 Fundamentals of Dementia Care first. This class is required to complete the certificate. This educational activity is provided by Schoolcraft College, an approved continuing education provider under the Michigan Board of Nursing Administrative Rule R338.10602(g) and is approved for 2 continuing education contact hours for nurses. It is approved for 2 continuing education contact hours for social workers by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative and 0.2 CEUs for all others.
