Course Description:
Depression, fear, and anxiety appear to be everywhere these days. These problems along with violence, difficult behavior, and feelings of guilt - are an important part of health care. The scientifically-based, six-hour course, "Understanding Mental Disorders," is designed to give health professionals an understanding of personality disorders, anxiety, and depression. The course examines elements of personality, the relationship between genetics and mental health, and how different people perceive reality. The course examines such mental-health conditions as paranoia, anti-social behavior, and narcissism. The course covers how matters experienced early in life can affect future behavior. The course examines how insomnia, pain, and stress affect mental health. It reviews new treatments for depression.
