Course Description:
This online synchronous/live webinar course will begin by taking a historical look into how this society was founded, how the hild welfare system was founded, and how this foundation allows for the manifestation of racism. This will provide learners with an opportunity to begin to understand how insidious racism is and why it requires actionable steps, not inactive platitutdes. This will be the framework for this course as learners learn more about the current policies and practices. Learners will have an opportunity to review currednt policies and practicies, determining which perpetuate racism and which actively defend against racism. Finally, this course will wrap with a discussion regarding the action required of anti-racism work, urging the learners to work toward actionable policies and practices to truly reduce and eliminate racism within society and the child welfare system.
