Course Description:
Sleep problems are often of clinical interest only within the context of specific syndromes or patient populations. The CDC estimates the number of individuals who do not achieve the recommended hours of sleep has remained stable or slightly worsened over time. Not getting enough sleep drains your mental abilities and puts your physical health at risk. This presentation will provide an overview of the changes in cognition, emotional regulation, and metabolic functioning associated with sleep deficits, so that the practicing clinician has an adequate rationale for attending to patient sleep habits as a part of standard patient care. Additionally, this presentation will provide trans-diagnostic treatment recommendations for sleep concerns.
