Course Description:
Reproductive justice is the crux of political, organizational, and interpersonal debates in present-day America. This lecture-based course gives social workers a comprehensive overview - micro to macro - on the history and culture of reproductive healthcare since the 19th century in America. Participants will explore timelines of access and restriction, consider cultural implications and intersectional perspectives, and be challenged to ethically apply the history of reproductive justice to their current contexts of anti-oppressive social work.
This presentation provides social workers across the field - micro to macro - cultural and historical competency in working with the various components and considerations to reproductive justice. This is a current critical issue in the field and this lecture-based course aims to enhance social work knowledge for policy and interpersonal work.
