Course Description:
Human Trafficking Awareness is a critical topic in social work. It is required as part of the continuing education component for license renewal and with good reason. The social work mission is inextricably linked with serving vulnerable populations of all types including children, the disabled, the elderly, people involved with the legal system, and people with substance use disorders. All of these populations are vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and neglect of all types. Social workers in all different types of practice settings need to be aware of the nature and the extent of human trafficking and they need to be trained in methods to identify and help people who are being exploited in this manner
