Course Description:

This training will offer basic information regarding substance use disorder (SUD) and available treatment options. The focus will be placed on how SUD affects the family of the patient. This training will help attendees understand the need to offer both formal and informal support for families affected by addiction. During this training attendees will learn appropriate ways to advocate for families. This training will utilize visual aids. This training will also discuss the importance of understanding different cultures while supporting families. It is important to understand how substance abuse is viewed culturally in order to effectively assist the family.
