Course Description:

Many mental health service providers believe ADHD is a complex disorder that is difficult to diagnose and treat. Yet, research shows that ADHD is highly treatment responsive and that diagnosis and treatment provide significant benefits to those who live with ADHD. Workshop presenter Noelle Lynn is dedicated to training social workers and other professionals to understand that ADHD is a common diagnosis that does not need to be feared or avoided. Through the "Demystifying ADHD" workshop attendees will gain a robust understanding of ADHD across the lifespan. This workshop will provide a synthesis of cutting-edge research on ADHD related to its prevalence, treatment, impacts on quality of life, disorder presentations, and neurobiology. Attendees will learn the diagnostic process for assessing clients for ADHD and be empowered to teach evidence-based psychoeducation to their clients. This workshop will also provide attendees with resources, tools, skills, and interventions to utilize in their practice settings and the ability to develop effective treatment plans for clients with ADHD.
