Course Description:
All social workers go through supervision, minimally during our internships and limited license stages. Most of us provide supervision at some point, maybe to interns and likely other social workers and interdisciplinary staffers. Yet how often are we trained in the skills that are setting up the next rounds of professionals? Do we know how to supervise our staff for the biggest “return on investment”? If a significant portion of our careers are spent doing this work, we need to know the impact it is having and how to do it to the best of our ability. NASW, CSWE, and ASWB have created standards for supervisors but we’ll also spend time reviewing the practical best practices for supervision in our field.
