Course Description:
Practice Gap/Need: The author portrays her moving experiences working collaboratively as an evaluator of individuals of varied nationalities seeking asylum in US detention centers, prisons and communities. As a psychoanalyst, she explains how the refugees’ stories were communicated nonverbally and via powerful emotional responses in the listener. She elaborates new ways of identifying the effects of massive social traumatization and describes societal patterns of erasure and re-traumatization.
