Course Description:
2.5 day conference includes one half day emphasis on the needs of survivors. Goal is to provide a forum for policy makers, researchers and noted advocates to address the health problem of suicide and it’s profound impact on individuals, families, communities and society. Approaches and treatments will be presented that impact groups/individuals; primary prevention, and the importance of collaboration. The mission of the Kevin’s Song is to empower communities to prevent suicide and offer hope and healing to survivors. The conference will present keynote speakers and multiple workshops all on these themes. A special emphasis will tackle suicide prevention through a social justice lens, addressing and challenging existing biases and belief systems.
The School Summit will take place concurrently with the main conference on Thursday. Educators, schools, school districts and clinicians will discuss designing and implementing strategies to prevent suicide, promote behavioral health, better protect students and save lives.
