Course Description:

All types of crime victimization can be traumatic, and understanding the trauma response, including the psychology and biology underneath it, is crucial for crime victim advocates and other victim service providers to deliver appropriate services victims of crime. It is of particular importance to understand the effects of trauma across the lifespan, as many crime victim advocacy practices have been primarily geared towards the immediate needs of people who have been recently victimized with less attention give to long-term responses to trauma that continue to affect victims long after a traumatic experience has passed. This training series consists of short, recorded lessons that review the basics of how trauma affects the brain and behavior with specific attention given to various stages of life and common life milestones.
