Course Description:
COVID-19 has remained a global public health issue since the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic in 2020. Among its many adverse effects, COVID-19 has been found to impact individuals’ neuropsychiatric health. Clinicians working with this population must stay up-to-date on the evolving research about the epidemiology, proposed mechanisms of injury, and recommendations for optimizing recovery from COVID-19. This presentation will describe the current literature on the neuropsychological impact of COVID-19 and explain the possible short-term outcomes of COVID-19 on neuropsychiatric health. Additionally, the possible long-term impact of COVID-19 on neuropsychiatric health will be identified and treatments for neuropsychiatric symptoms after COVID-19 will be discussed.
