1.    Summarize the pathology of Brain Injury

2.    Explain the progression of recovery and improvement of symptoms

3.    Discuss current treatments

4.    Discuss the need for pharmacological intervention

5.    Identify how pharmaceuticals, specifically Amantadine, are used and what affects they have on TBI patients

 

Applicable to Social Work Practice:

The use of Amantadine may aid in the recovery of a patient’s nervous system, after a brain injury. Healthcare professionals will improve their knowledge of Brain Injury treatment and what to expect in this patient population. This presentation will discuss the pathology of Brain Injury, current treatment and resolution of symptoms, as well as, how pharmaceuticals, specifically Amantadine, are used.
