Course Description:

Palliative care is not readily accessible to all Americans. It is offered primarily in hospital settings, with only a few major medical centers providing outpatient or home-delivered palliative care programs. Access to health care for all individuals requires processes and a system-wide willingness to assure appropriate resource use and address cost-containment. Palliative and EOL care is an arena where numerous opportunities exist to improve value. This course covers the topics of Economics and Costs; Quality and Value; Regulations and Standards; Hospice Coverage Options; CMS Reimbursement Guidelines and Commercial Payer Reimbursement.
