Course Description:

Posterior fossa syndrome is a postoperative condition that has been identified in certain children with tumors in the posterior fossa region of the brain. This is a rare disorder involving a variety of signs and symptoms including speech disturbances, changes in mood and motor skills. This syndrome can be difficult to treat, both medically and behaviorally. There are common misconceptions with the behavioral aspect of this disorder which needs to be identified and treated accordingly. Participants of this presentation will be able to discuss common pediatric CNS cancers, explain posterior fossa syndrome, and identify treatment options.
