Course Description:
This course will provide social workers valuable knowledge about the most important and most common changes and declines in functioning that occur in Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia illnesses. It will enable the social worker to assist the caregiver in planning strategies to minimize the effects of these changes and declines so that the patient can function at as high a level as possible for as long as possible. It will also enable the social worker to recommend additional services that may be needed by both the caregiver and patient at various points along the path of the illness.
