Course Description:
Social Workers are employed in a variety of settings that may include hospitals, community health centers, social service agencies and/or religious agencies. They often work in conjunction with health care workers and are exposed to a variety of clients with multiple health problems, including stroke survivors. This course will help the social worker to understand the pathophysiology of stroke, discuss the major risk factors for stroke, identify lifestyle and dietary changes for prevention of stroke, describe current treatments and therapies and explain the role of rehabilitation to improve outcomes.
