Course Description:

Lifestyle changes can have a positive effect on HF patients, and this module details best practices for eating and exercising. It starts by looking at the importance of a low-sodium diet, and offering tips on how to lower one’s daily salt intake; it then explains creative ways to get exercise, from daily walking to waltzing. Next, it looks at the effects that smoking and alcohol can have on HF patients, and how CMs can best advise patients on cutting back or quitting altogether. Then, using a case study as an illustration, the module examines how telemedicine—monitoring patients’ symptoms remotely—can help patients be more proactive about their care, without replacing their primary care doctors.
