Course Description:

Evidence gathered during contract compliance and quality assurance site visits of victim services programs by Michigan Division of Victim Services monitors indicated a statewide trend in lack of understanding of basic confidentiality requirements of victim service providers. While some in-person confidentiality trainings are available in Michigan through MCEDSV, these are only available to sexual assault and domestic violence agencies, and high turnover in the field necessitates trainings more readily available to new staff. Additionally, adult learning theory stipulates the need for repeated exposure to information and an ability to participate in interactive skill-building exercises in order to most efficiently acquire and retain information. An interactive, online confidentiality training curriculum that is available to all Michigan victim service providers will address the need for enhanced confidentiality training.
